With the change to the GXX model range, the manufacturer has introduced new tuning protection.
This affects the Bosch MD1 (diesel) and Bosch MG1 (petrol) engine control units.
The first stage of this protection can be removed quite easily via OBD unlock. This makes it possible to write directly to the engine control unit after unlocking.
However, with the change to model year 2021 (MY 2021), a newer tuning protection was introduced that can no longer be removed so easily via OBD unlock.
This means that a hardware ECU unlock must be carried out on vehicle models built from 07/2020 onwards.

Differences:
Unlock until 06/2020:
The OBD unlock is carried out by us.
This is usually referred to as a bench unlock, as the engine control unit is removed and connected to our tuning tool on the desk using pins.
It is not yet necessary to open the engine control unit.
Unlock from 07/2020:
For OBD unlocking, your control unit must first be prepared accordingly by us. We are therefore talking about an intervention on the hardware side.
In this case, it is necessary to open the engine control unit.
(The control unit is properly glued and sealed after processing).
All common tuning platforms and tools can also be used with our unlock.
