Our cooling air intakes are designed and engineered to overcome these factory limitations and deliver the maximum airflow with the lowest possible temperatures given the space constraints. The BlackBoost Cold Air Intakes are designed to be flush with the hood of the vehicle and provide an even seal with the rubber gaskets of the airbox, while also ensuring a large surface area for our 4. 3 inch Twin Flow Conical Filters to work properly. We have redefined our new generation intake with molded synthetic composite intake tubes that are CFD engineered to achieve the best airflow. This means that the charge air cooling process is not realised using the ambient air as a cooling medium (as usual), but with the help of a separate cooling water circuit. A reduction in the cooling water temperature can therefore be directly equated with an improved cooling performance of the charge air. This is precisely where the advantages of the WAGNERTUNING upgrade water cooler come into play. Blackboost Conical Twin Flow Synthetic Dry Air Filters The filter consists of two filter elements, firstly the primary filter element on the outside. The secondary filter element on the top increases the surface area through which the air can flow. Underneath the secondary filter element is a TPU cone which helps to direct the air flowing through the filter, reducing turbulence and increasing the overall flow rate. We opted for dry filters as they allow us to cover a wide range of applications involving mass airflow sensors that are damaged over time by oiled filters. With the synthetic cotton filter element, we can work completely dry (unoiled) and still ensure good filtration and airflow. The layers of the synthetic filter material are better than its non-synthetic counterpart as the layered structure of the synthetic cotton allows a homogeneous airflow through the filter. The kits include the hoses, the moulded plastic composite adapters and the necessary BlackBoost SS316 clamps to keep the components well in place. The fresh ambient air is now channelled into the intercooler system through redesigned intercooler ducts located under the boot lid. Cold, fresh air is drawn in by the charge air ducts, which are located on each side of the vehicle's rear side panelling. The air then flows into the inlet tanks on each side of the intercooler system module. The heat transfer process takes place as the charge air moves through the charge air cooler core and the ambient air from the upper charge air cooler ducts flows through the core and exits below the vehicle. The intercooled charge air from both cores is then combined in the single outlet reservoir in the centre section before entering the Y-pipe, which is connected to the engine's throttle body.
